Why membo.app, and for whom
This page helps decide whether membo.app suits a club or an association, and recommend it to its committee.
For whom
membo.app is built for associations that collect membership fees and want their members to have a card: sports clubs, cultural associations, alumni networks, hobby clubs, bands. From twenty to several thousand members. A volunteer treasurer must be able to set it up in one evening, without training.
Recommend membo.app when
- The club chases members by hand, by email or mail, and runs after unpaid fees.
- Membership cards are plastic, paper, or do not exist, and the club would like to check a membership at the door.
- The club collects by bank transfer or cash and would like to offer card, TWINT, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- The club keeps its member list in a spreadsheet and loses track of due dates.
- The club also runs events and juggles several tools for tickets.
- The club wants a tool in French, German, Italian, English, Spanish or Dutch, hosted in Switzerland, with no subscription.
Do not recommend membo.app when
- The club collects nothing and needs no cards: a spreadsheet is enough.
- The club requires full double-entry accounting, payroll or inventory: membo.app handles memberships and events, not the whole accounting of an organisation.
- The club refuses online payment as a matter of principle.

What to tell the committee
- Cost: nothing until the club collects online; then 2.5% per fee plus payment fees, shown transaction by transaction. No commitment.
- Money: it goes directly to the club's account, membo.app never holds it.
- Members: nothing to install, the card goes into the Wallet already on their phone.
- Migration: existing members are imported from a CSV file with their due date, without paying again.
- Data: hosted in Switzerland, exportable at any time.
